Fees

The doctors at Huon Doctors bill privately, and fees are payable in full at the time of consultation by cash, EFTPOS, or credit card. Medicare rebates can be deposited into your savings or cheque account at the same time. A discounted fee is offered to Pensioners, Concession card holders and children under 16 years of age.

Your appointment fee will depend on the type of appointment and the duration. A list of consultation fees is available here, or call us, and our friendly reception team will explain the fee structure to you.
 

If an appointment is no longer required, please notify us at least 4 business hours prior to your appointment so that we can allocate it to another patient. A $50 fee may be charged for non-attendance, which cannot be claimed from Medicare.

Patients with financial difficulties should speak with reception staff prior to an appointment, either in person or via telephone.

Please note that there may be additional costs for other GP service items or clinic services such as wound care products, consumable items, and specific administrative requests (e.g. transfer of medical records). For a full list of fees, please see the reception team.

Important Information for DVA Card Holders
We are proud to support our veteran community. To maintain the highest quality of healthcare and sustainable practice operations, please note our current billing policy regarding Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) cards:

  • DVA White Cards: Huon doctors do not participate in direct billing arrangements for DVA White Cards. All consultations for White Card holders are billed at our standard private practice rates and are payable on the day of your appointment.

If your consultation is for a specific, pre-approved condition covered by your White Card, you will be issued a full private receipt upon payment. You can use this receipt to lodge a manual reimbursement claim directly with the DVA via your online MyService account or by mail.

After Hours

If you require medical assistance outside of our opening hours, please call HealthDirect on 1800 022 222 where a registered nurse will talk to you about your symptoms.

In a medical emergency, please call 000 and ask for an ambulance.
